What's Hot?

♥ ready for home ♥

Monday, August 31, 2009

Hi peeps! I've been happily busy these past 2 days or so. Wanna know why? =) I am happy and busy at the same time 'coz I've been preparing for a birthday celebration for Lovey this coming 1st of September. This weekend we unintentionally was able to visit (one of my to visit list) WETA CAVE, a place housing the model props and other prosthetics used in big films such as LORD OF THE RINGS.

Then I am also preparing for my homecoming! Gotta shop some good finds for my beloved family, friends and colleagues. Fortunately, shops went on SALE! Talking just-in-time events folks. These are "some" of my hauls.

How can I not buy chocolates for pasalubong?!
Take your pick, i'll be sharing some of my reviews with these chocolates.

Shopping bags. These are so IN here.
and I'm trying to be environment-friendly, ayt?!
so share and spread the good deed. =)

For my darlings Bea and Uno.
Thomas book and ballerina musical jewelry box.

Ref magnets. I know its common but READ CAREFULLY
what type of bird it is. LOL (and hey its not mine!)

Guess bag for my dear mama. I'm still waiting for coffees to go on sale,
for dad. LOL

When I buy things for myself, I feel happy but more often than not, the happiness fades away just as quickly as I pull-out cash from my wallet or swipe my card. But when I buy things for others, especially for the people that loves me, it doubles the worth of my money, brings a joy that lasts longer or forever and a feeling that its the best money I ever spent for a long time.

These stuff may not be all mine but I still thank HIM for I regard this opportunity to give as one great blessing.

Happy Heroes Day!

♥ Hollywood Homicide ♥

Thursday, August 27, 2009

A 6 year old movie of veteran Harrison Ford and fast-rising (at that time I could imagine) cutie rookie Josh Hartnett. At first, the movie having the word "hollywood" in its title plus a power-cast, really caught my interest and made me imagine how action-packed and mind-juggling it is.

I was wrong. Yes, there were action scenes, why not, they are both playing as cops. But instead of an intense action, I laughed at the movie from time to time. Its so comical! Ford is a real estate broker aside from being a cop and hooked up with a psych gurl while Hartnett is a Yoga Instructor wanting to quit being a cop and just pursue a career in acting!

All scenes never fail me to laugh. Worth-watching. Its strange to see the actors play such roles especially with Hartnett. He's so cute with his character.

Have you watched it? I know you'll love it as well...

♥ Election Watch August 2009 ♥

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

According to the latest Pulse Asia Survey, Senator Manny Villar is the country's 1st pick for the next President. Following him is former President Estrada (though I think he is an irrelevant candidate, based on our Constitution). VP President Noli de Castro is solely placed at 3rd place and sharing the 4th spot, statistically are Chiz Escudero and Mar Roxas.

Impressively for the Filipino voters, the publicity brought by Mar-Korina marriage seem to be an irrelevant factor for the 2011 presidential race. Villar gained 11 points while Escudero and Roxas loses 5 and 2 points respectively.

I am one with Senator Santiago for discouraging political ads at this early stage especially on TVs and huge billboards. It's an EYE-SORE! But for me, INFOMERCIALS are better than obvious, silly, senseless publicity stunts and ads some politicians do.

In here, the registration for the Absentee Voting is still on-going. Folks, now is the best time to start scrutinizing all those who are interested in the highest position in our country! Let's do it for the nation, for the people, for ourselves and families and for the future generation.

♥ Another Sad Migrant Tale ♥

Monday, August 24, 2009

The following story is what greeted me a good Monday morning. As I've told you, migrant issues here are heating up. The story and the forum both touched and pierced my heart in a strange way. For the first time in my life, I feel that I'm a FILIPINO, at heart, at soul and a proud one! I miss our dear Philippines.

God bless this woman. Everyone is invited to share this story.

♥ Pacman vs. Beckham ♥

According to Forbes Magazine, our very own Manny Pacquiao is the 6th Most Powerful Athlete this year. Among the highest paid athletes are Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Sharing the spots with Manny are Lebron James and Phil Mickelson. Pacquiao is just $2M shy from one of the most-wanted celeb David Beckham!

I therfeore conclude, Pacquio is Philippines' Beckham or Beckham is their local Pacquiao?

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Eversince I watched "The Bourne" trilogy in one week, I've been wanting to watch a film with the same quality, but unfortunately none of my choices were at par. That's why on a sunny and lazy Saturday afternoon, I watched a film about Jamaican athletes who graced the WINTER Olympics sometime in our history. I was moved by the story, their fighting spirit, devotion to their craft, determination despite trials (including racism) and their love & pride to their own country and race. In that flick I was able to get one of my newest favorite quotes!

"If you are not enough without it
then you will never be enough with it."
(referring to gold medal, but I think we could apply it
to almost anything except the Almighty ofcoz),

So true, so very true! =)

Another quote that pierced my heart goes like this, from a forum:
"Migrants carry with them not just their luggages, but their hopes and dreams, all their money and all their lives. They are not disposable human beings."

The migrant issues here are heating up. Many Filipinos are going home with bad news, some with worse cases. There were few who suffered nervous breakdown and there is a small number of suicide cases. Sad. Depressing. Maddening. It's reality.

The best piece of advise i could give being a migrant myself, TRY NOT TO PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET!!! PLEASE... do not risk everyaLL, it may not be worth it, especially these times. Have a cool attitude and be open to other options. Keep your hopes & hardwork high but your expectations low. Lastly but not the least, involve the Higher Being, pray more than just a LOT.

I know it's easier said than done. Most of us also prepared so much and do all the necessary stuff but still nothing happens. Well, I know that. I understand. We are on the same page. Let's just turn our woes to HIM, since it's only HIM who knows what's happening and what will happen to us. Not only that, it's ONLY HIM who will lead us to the right way.

♥ License...? ♥

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

I had a superb dinner today, fish (flounder) + rice + tomatoes w/egg + choco muffin (for desert). After the yummy supper, we watched the movie "License to Wed".

I like Mandy Moore's movies, even the like-a-copy-cat flick A Walk to Remember, but there is something in "License to Wed" which irritates me & makes me feel sorry for the guy. =) I also do not buy the scene when the jewelry store refused to correct the ring engravement which was supposed to be Never to PART instead of "FART". Hello, where is commonsense?

Nonetheless i like Mandy in a light, feel-good film like this. Her outfits, aura and overall arrive just make me feel good too, just relax. She's pleasant to my eyes. Moreover, the film's intention which is to prepare couples for marriage and possibly open their eyes that wedding is more than just a grand day is very much appreciated. Wedding is like a celebration for a start of a new union, new life of togetherness, of marriage. It is sacred and meant to be taken seriously and responsibly.

Now, that makes me think a little over. Do I already have the License to Wed? =p

♥ Cadbury changes its mind ♥

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Recently, I myself witnessed the change in Cadbury's packaging & size. Before, it has only a paper wrap but now it comes in a resealable paper box. Before it weighs 250g but now it only weighs 220g. All the changes include an increase in price and an alleged bad taste.

Another change Cadbury company has taken is the use of palm oil instead of the traditional cocoa-butter only recipe. This time around, the public could no longer be silent, instead they addressed the issue accordingly. At first, the company stand by their decision, saying that they are only using the kind of palm oil which is sustainable and therefore would not harm the environment.

Sadly for the company, public and various environmental groups did not buy that. Due to public pressure and bad publicities which open good opportunities for rival chocolate companies, they finally gave in, apologising to the public and promising to revert to the old formula without affecting the price, new look & size.

Was it for the love of mother nature or was it simply because the new Cadbury is smaller and more costly with new unappreciated taste? =p Which way, I think customers if not always right, are always the priority! Lots of peeps would be happy to buy again their products I'm sure.

Just be reminded everyone that obesity and diabetes are not good for our well-being. =p So take it easy on those sweet, pricey and controversial chocolates.... =)

♥ Flying Safe ♥

Monday, August 17, 2009

Last year, I had a blast when it comes to travel, & I had the luxury to do it with planes. The lucky break continued this year. As a matter of fact, I had this year my very first international flight. So far, I'm happy because I've confirmed that I have no fear in flying. =) or it's just for the sake of travel? Anyhow, Lots of us LOVE to travel, especially these times when several air companies are offering airfare discounts and all that, right? As a matter of sachi's routine, let's review some safety tips when it comes to flying....

STAYING SAFE on a plane trip:

  • Aisle seats close to the over-wing emergency exits are said to be safer. These seats are commonly in the mid-front section of the plane. If you sit near the window next to an emergency exit, you may be in a more dangerous zone in the event of a crash that jams the exit. Aisle seats near several exits gives you more choices for escape thus making your survival rate higher.
  • Try to count and memorise the number of rows from your seat to the nearest exits. If ever the plane crashes and smoke fills the cabin, you'll find yourself in the dark working toward your exit.
  • Wear full-length clothing, suits or dresses, made of wool or cotton. Avoid wearing shorts or clothing made of synthetics like polyester because it can melt to your body in a fire.
  • Women should not wear high-heeled shoes on a plane. They can cause accidents everywhere most especially in emergency cases when everyone is trying to get to the exit.
  • If the plane s filled with smoke, stay slow while crawling towards the exit. You can be killed by the toxic smoke. If there's a warning before a crash, place a damp cloth over your mouth in order to breath through the smoke.
  • If you're lucky enough to escape a crash, get as far away from the plane as possible.
  • Read and listen to emergency instructions soon after you get on the plane since you would not want to do that when the aircraft suddenly get into troubles.
  • Avoid airlines with "financial difficulties". Yes fellas, we got to check their financials since it will have an effect on their maintenance and you know, POOR MAINTENANCE = GREAT RISK of UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. Also, avoid those with labor problems for the same reason as well.
I do hope we can all live with a little travel on the side from time to time. For me, it ain't actually a luxury but a necessary form of education, relaxation and retreat from our daily lives, a getaway to be unattached, for a while. Saint Augustine said that life is like a book, without traveling means not turning its pages. Enjoy your trip ladies & gents!

For a happy & safe journey ,
Miss Sachi

♥ Revenge NOT ♥

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I LOVE Johnny Depp! For me, he's one of the best character-actors. His eyes are oh so charming & could speak a thousand and one words. Okay, enough of my admiration of Johnny.

Yesternight I stayed up very late just to watch "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" which starred mu Johnny. It was a great flick directed by no other than Tim Burton, an adaptation of a popular theatre play.

Indeed it is a bloody movie, Depp, playing Todd being obsessed by the idea of REVENGE to the people who caused him myseries. In his path of revenge, the table suddenly turns and his anger backfires at him, making him kill his own wife and almost harming his only daughter as well.

Sweeney Todd is my personal reminder that ANGER and GRUDGE should have no space in my heart, my mind and my life for it will do me no good at all. In the end, I will still be the loser. Also, REVENGE is something I should not even think of, because it is a dangerous thought, once it lingers in your mind, it will corrupt your mind and soul.

Anger, grudge and revenge. All normal emotions but once identified and accepted, they must be destroyed at once before we do any harm to others or to the people that matter to us, or to ourselves even.

♥ Mga ala-ala ng aking pagkabata... ♥

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Hanggang sa susunod!

♥ my crazy mind hits again ♥

I took a leave from work today, hoping it will prevent me from getting burn-out and praying this "one-day-off" will clear my mind from what's been bothering me for quite sometime.

I left the PhiLs. with a bunch of hope and with so many prayers on my pocket, just 4 months ago. But from NAIA up to here, all I did was cry and think of how can I go home the sooner, the better. Days, weeks, months, pass, I still want to go back. As I've said, I knew it the first time I set foot on this land. I knew it even before I tell it to anyone else. I want it then and I want it now, or I'm having a second thought?

For months I've been looking for an opportunity to go home. Then I suddenly landed a job, something I'd never imagined I will be doing. It was a fun experience though and it pays me better than what I used to earn but the physical fatigue and mental idleness make me wanna go home even more. I miss my "true work". Tha analysis and the entries and the memos and balances. Being the hard-headed girl that I am, even if my mom wants to shoulder my ticket for going home, I still go back to my job and promised myself to buy pasalubong and shoulder my own fare. So, that's it. Another plan I made, another plan I'm doubting, another plan which makes me think a little more.

Today, I'm clear with the fact that I want to go home. But as to the time, I do not know. Circumstances make it hard for me to decide, i.e. telling others about my decision, leaving my love alone and facing the world/life back home ALONE.

Some things are just so confusing. A pocket of prayer is not enough, I need a bagful. =p

But hey, I'm happy where I am. Soon, this phase will be nothing but another memory, another page of sachi's true life. When I look back, maybe this page is something I wouldn't wanna miss afterall.

cheers to that!
Miss Sachi ♥

This gift made my day.
It vanishes my tiredness, rekindles my low spirit, revives my youth,
revitalizes my body, washes my tears away and relieves all the pains.

They perform miracles to a woman's heart.
Most importantly, they do mend a wounded soul.

♥ GRABS ♥

FINALLY, pay day comes & I could not help it but spend some of my salary... I really intended to buy "pasalubong" for my loved ones and although I managed to buy some for some... I was also able to buy good items for myself...

For kikays out there, take a good look & enjoy. =)

* a lip gloss stored in a cute cake miniature*

It is a product from UK & bought it from a real super cool store - Bennetts GiftShop @ Courtney Place (Wellington's spot for restos & bars). Though expensive, it is unique & delicious at the same time. =) What a grab! I'll definitely be back to buy some more of their items like soaps and car miniatures.

Aside from this lip gloss... I also grabbed the ff. items - another Betty Boop item & a chocolate mint in a cute pocket pill box. I was literally mesmerized & fascinated & overwhelmed with that store! There are more Betty Boop items which unfortunately would be difficult to carry back in Pinas & would hurt my pocket so very much. So, I made myself happy with these. =)

In a popular mall/store here, Farmers, I bought this another cute leather jewelry box on sale! (still thinking as to whom shall I give these items)

Friends, these are my latest catch, what about you, any interesting grab?

Hiyya fellas?! How's everything going? Okay this is the second week of my life as a check-out operator and oh my goodness, it was damn very tiring! But some things do keep me alive... What are these? TA-DA....

WETA CAVE, location of the craft company behind the box-office hit movie "LORD OF THE RINGS"

FOOD FESTIVAL, this coming 17-31 August... Being someone who has very healthy appetite & friendly taste buds, I am excitedly looking forward to this event. A worthy way to spend my hard-earned money.

CABLE CAR EXPERIENCE, one popular tourist spot here. I'll do it at night & at daytime... wuhoo!

BEEHIVE/PARLIAMENT TOUR, for some cultural enhancement.

ZOO & BOTANICAL GARDENS/PARKS, I DO LOVE MOTHER NATURE.

SHOPPING, for pasalubong most especially, I'd love to go at the famous "Queensgate"

INTER ISLANDER FERRIES, I just dunno if this would suit my budget.

PHOTOSHOOTS, a-must, the best souvenir I could keep for myself.

MUSEUMS & CHURCHES, again for some cultural nourishment and educational purposes.

I hope to do all these soon. =)
These stuff keep my blood running & my heart pumping. That's how 'effing tired I am!
Time for a "tourist mode" fellas and spoil myself some REAL travel & vacation.
Just right after some 5days/week, 8hrs/day job of facing, sometimes cruel human beings. =) No hard feelings though, I believe in Karma... =)

♥ Ms. Check-Out ♥

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

My change in circumstances do not allow me to blog-to-death, not like before. Poor me. =)

I migrated 3 months ago, left the Philippines & tried to start a new life from scratch. I was a promising Accountant back home but due to change in plans, I left my office and decided to go abroad. However, due to global recession, finding a full-time, "good" job is not easy even for most locals here.

In short, full-time Accounting job is far from my fate right now, so I had to work for 2 part-time jobs to pay my rent, bills, debts, food and all other stuff I used to enjoy (sometimes freely) when I was still living with my parents in the Philippines.

My one part time role is as... CHECK-OUT OPERATOR or Cashier in the Philippines... I also do bagging, it's a rotation for us.

I admit, I cried on my first day, well as soon as I was in my room, alone. I did not eat dinner and I wanted to quit and just go back. There is just something within me that stopped me. I do not want this job to be the reason why I am going home. I am going home, I know that for a fact. I knew that the first time I set foot on this land. I knew that even before I tell it to anyone. I just knew, but this is not the time, this wont be the reason I told myself.

So, I came back the next morning and now I'm charging all these to life experience...

UPS
  1. It's a whole new experience!!!
  2. I know more veggies & fruits, all different types.
  3. I appreciate more my blessings right now.
  4. More money! hehe...
  5. I give new meaning to hardwork & love & sacrifice & fortitude & pain endurance. whew.
  6. I speak more often. LOL (I'm the silent type of lady)
  7. I am forced to exercise...
  8. I can now buy more "pasalubong"
  9. A customer's thank you & smile make my day better.
  10. The feeling that I was able to help others or fulfill my job .
DOWN
  1. Muscle pain, backache, leg pain, swollen toes = all due to long hours of standing if not bagging all the grocery items.
  2. Rude customers.
  3. Impatient customers.
  4. Situations/emergencies/irregular transactions that make me sweat and make me look ignorant!!!! grrrr....
  5. Hard time noting & remembering all those fruits & veggies (leeks, beetroots, yams, 4 types of pears, courgettes etc... etc...)
Just like any other career, there are UPS & DOWNS being a Check-out Operator, a job I would not consider doing if I'm in the Philippines. So, right now I am just taking advantage of whatever there is to take advantage of from this phase of my life and hoping it would make me a better person and help me one day in the future. I just hope it's not like I really have to do it again to earn for a living! =)

SALUTE & CHEERS to All CASHIERS and CHECK-OUTS out there! Great job!

more stories about this new Ms. Check-Out Operator. =)

All for hardwork ,

♥ So Long Cory ♥

Monday, August 3, 2009

President Corazon Aquino,

an influential leader in the Philippines, an icon of democracy for the world, a supportive wife, a loving mother, a loyal Filipino and a woman of simplicity and of unwavering faith.

There are just too many noble words to describe her. She may not be the best president the country has ever had but she definitely tried to always be at her best as a person.

Beyond doubt, her legacy in politics, motherhood/parenting, faith or merely about life is INSPIRING and worth KEEPING ALIVE.

Her peaceful death is the start of her new life in the HANDS of our CREATOR with Ninoy, a life much more beautiful and peaceful. So long…

If I could emulate half of Tita Cory’s faith, perhaps my life will be much, much better. With all her good qualities, it was her faith, her confidence in prayers and her devotion to Mama Mary and her trust to the kindness of God that inspire me the most and perhaps the piece of her that I will take with me in my heart.

All prayers & sympathy ,

miss sachi
