The following story is what greeted me a good Monday morning. As I've told you, migrant issues here are heating up. The story and the forum both touched and pierced my heart in a strange way. For the first time in my life, I feel that I'm a FILIPINO, at heart, at soul and a proud one! I miss our dear Philippines.
God bless this woman. Everyone is invited to share this story.

An ailing Filipina mother of two New Zealand-born children has been told she must leave the country because of her illness, a move her husband says will "sign her death warrant".
My piece: Migrants are never burden here. Without jobs, they spend their savings from their home country. With jobs, they contribute productively to the work force & help boost the economy through spending and paying taxes which the Gov. can use on whatever purpose or whoever's benefit. The woman got sick at NZ, not as if she knew she was sick when she applied here. It's not like every migrant gets sick like that everyday or every year.
They say it was a privilege to be invited to work and live here, for me, i repeat, for me it's a mistake. A mistake I hope no one else make, atleast not another Pinoy.
They should clarify, amend and analyse carefully their policies and the way they implement them, such as those who assess the applications. I think the foul thing started when the sick lady was "ordered to leave because she will cost in health care", after working 2 years or so. Don't you think it's better if she was "advised to go to Philippines because the health care system here won't be able to handle her disease" instead?
